CAMBRIDGE -- Any area resident seeking employment should mark Oct. 3 on their calendar.
That's the date for the 2013 "Hard Hat & Blue Collar" Job Fair to be held at the Pritchard-Laughlin Civic Center from 2-6 p.m. on Oct. 3.
The Hard Hat & Blue Collar Job Fair is aimed at showcasing jobs in the industrial, manufacturing, technical, engineering and gas and oil fields of opportunity.
"We have put this event together so that area residents interested in jobs in those sectors can be matched up with employers seeking employees," said Kim Brenning, advertising director for The Daily & Sunday Jeffersonian.
The Jeffersonian is one of the sponsors, along with Ohio Gas & Oil Magazine, Dix Communications and The Community Job Club.
Any corporate sponsors or companies wishing to take part can call 1-888-296-9650 (ext. 4138) or go online at www.ohiojobfairs.com.
In addition to matching up job opportunities with job seekers, the Hard Hat & Blue Collar Job Fair will include help from representatives of the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services (or Ohio Means Jobs - Guernsey County).
Sue Sikora, manager of the Guernsey County Opportunity Center, said her agency would provide 13 laptop computers on which job applicants can fill out forms online and also print the necessary paperwork on site, if necessary. The agency will also provide representatives to help develop or fine-tune resumes in order to improve any job seeker's chance of gaining employment. Resumes and other paperwork can also be downloaded to flash drives or jump drives for applicants to take with them following the Job Fair.
"We're all aware of the economic realities of our region," Brenning said. "It's important for job seekers, and local companies, to be prepared and to have the best available information going forward from this point. The Hard Hat & Blue Collar Job Fair will help provide that starting point."
