DENNISON -- The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum invites adults and students in fourth grade up to consider volunteering on the Polar Express Train Rides.
Volunteer training will take place Wednesday evening, Oct. 9 at the Dennison Presbyterian Church on Grant Street in downtown Dennison. Students wishing to be elves should attend from 6 to 8 p.m. New elves are encouraged to arrive early at 5:45 p.m. Individuals interested in being storytellers, storyteller assistants, car hosts, ticket takers and specific characters in the Polar Express story, should attend from 7 to 9 p.m.
These popular train rides are based on the Award Winning Polar Express book by Chris Van Allsburg, will depart the Dennison Depot on December 13-15 and 20-22. Each of the twenty train trips requires a corp on 150 to 175 volunteers to operate.
Museum Director Wendy Zucal shares that these trips are great for student community service hours, and that, "The trips are perfect for anyone wishing to share the Christmas Spirit with children of all ages."
