The Newcomerstown Lions Club has been a strong organization in the community since it was chartered in 1940.

The local Lions have sponsored many of the community activities, and helped provide many young and adult citizens that needed vision assistance with glasses and operations.

The Newcomerstown Lions Club is in danger of being closed due to lack of members.

Many of the members have moved, died and/or just quit attending or paying their dues. The club is in danger of not being able to continue operations with only a few members, and could be closed by the International organization. In that situation, they would not be able to provide the activities and things they have done in the past 73 years.

They would also have to turn over all assets to the international organization.

They are asking any persons in the village that would be interested in helping to continue the Lions Club membership in the community to attend a meeting on Thursday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Lions Den, 347 W. Church St., Newcomerstown. The few members of the club are trying to keep things going.

They are going to be selling roses at $20 a dozen to be delivered on the week of Nov. 6-12. Saturday, Nov. 12 is Rose Day.

You can call 498-6575 or 498-5406 to place an order.
