Things are continuing to improve in the transition of thousands of prescriptions from Shrivers Pharmacy in Newcomerstown to Medi-Wise Pharmacy.

Medi-Wise Pharmacy owner Jeff Neidig said he wants to "thank everyone for their patience as we make adjustments with increased prescription volume." He appreciates that area residents want to keep their business locally.

The acquisition of Shrivers' files about a month ago doubled the pharmacy's daily workload.

Neidig said he has hired five additional employees to the staff at the pharmacy in order to better aide the customer's needs.

He also said repairs to their automated prescription retrieval system and a redesigned prescription pick up area will make for faster transactions at the check-out for customers in the near future. If a former Newcomerstown Shrivers Pharmacy customer wants to remain on the "auto-fill" for their prescriptions, they should alert the staff at Medi-Wise if they have not already. Auto-fill prescriptions are beginning to be processed this month.

The prescription number on the Shrivers' prescription bottles is not compatible in the Medi-Wise Pharmacy system so patients must call in and talk with someone in the pharmacy or leave a message with their prescription number(s). Once a Medi-Wise prescription number is assigned to their prescription, customers will be able to renew prescriptions either with the automated phone system or online at

He said if customers have any questions, they are encouraged to call the pharmacy at 498-6337.
