'Musik Fest' planned

COSHOCTON -- On Sunday, March 23 at 3 p.m., the Roscoe United Methodist Church music department will host its tenth annual "Musik Fest."

This year, three choirs will sing two anthems and several hymns en masse, "Majesty" and "The Majesty and Glory of Your Name," "Blessed Assurance" and "Great is Thy Faithfulness."

Accompanying the 50+ voice choir will be a 11 piece orchestra plus organ and piano.

The local Coshocton choirs include: Newcomerstown Christ UMC, Coshocton Grace UMC and Roscoe UMC. Each choir will sing two anthems individually. There will be a time of refreshments and fellowship after the concert.

No tickets are needed for this event, however, there will be an offering taken for the Coshocton County The Hope Clinic and music expenses. The church is located in historic Roscoe Village at 475 High St., Coshocton.

The Pine Ridge Boys will be in concert on Sunday, March 16 at 6 p.m. at the Churches of Christ in Christian Union, 560 W. State St., Newcomerstown.

Breakfast to be served

KIMBOLTON -- Breakfast will be served at the Kimbolton United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 15 from 8 to 11 a.m.

The menu includes bacon, sausage patties, eggs, sausage gravy and biscuits, toast, juice, coffee, fruit and sweets. Donations will be used to fund community projects.

Spaghetti supper set

WEST LAFAYETTE -- The West Lafayette United Methodist Church will have a spaghetti supper on Friday, March 14 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the church at the corner of Oak Street and Russell Avenue.

The menu consists of spaghetti, green salad, Texas toast, beverage and dessert.

Advance ticket sales only. Carry-out will be available.

Ticket prices are $6 for adults and children and toddlers (3 years and under) are free.

The supper is sponsored by the United Methodist Women and Outreach Ministries.

Ladies Community Spring Fling set

GNADENHUTTEN -- A Ladies Community Spring Fling is set for Saturday, March 15 at the Frys Valley Moravian Church, near Gnadenhutten, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

There will be raffles, vendors, crafts, homemade soup, bake sale and oven-ready ham loaves.

A light lunch will also be served.

There is no admission charge.

Family fun, pizza party set

ISLETA -- The Isleta United Methodist Church will hosting a family fun and pizza party on Sunday, March 30 from 4 to 6:30 p.m. at the church.

Church to welcome band

COSHOCTON -- The Roscoe United Methodist Church Music Department announces that the Moody Bible Institute Symphonic Band will be in concert on Thursday, March 20 at 7 p.m. in the sanctuary.

"It's more than just the music," said David Gauger II, professor of music and director of the Moody Symphonic Band. "We also thoroughly enjoy the personal interaction we are privileged to have with the wonderful people we meet on our tours."

Founded in 1970 at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago, Ill., the Symphonic Band is comprised of undergraduate students. Its purpose is to minister the Word of God through music, leading men and women in worship of Jesus Christ.

Their repertoire includes band and orchestral concert music as well as hymn and gospel song arrangements in both traditional and contemporary styles. The group ministers in the United States twice a year, and has toured internationally in China, Denmark, Hungary, Germany, Israel, Romania and many other countries. In addition to the Symphonic Band, Moody has three other music ensembles: The Women's Concert Choir, the Men's Collegiate Choir and Chorale.

David Gauger II joined Moody's music faculty in 1994 and teaches music technology, instrumental conducting, church music courses and applied trumpet. He holds a Bachelor of Music degree from Wheaton College and a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University. Since late 1999, Mr. Gauger has played extra and substitute trumpet regularly with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and is assistant principal and third trumpet of the Elgin Symphony, in Elgin, Ill.
