The Veterans' Organizations of Newcomerstown have scheduled Memorial Day services for the community on Monday, May 26 at 11 a.m. at West Lawn Cemetery.

The service will begin with a march of the veterans in attendance, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts and the marching band. They will be led by the Newcomerstown Veterans' Honor Guard.

Master of ceremonies will be Dennis Belle, the adjutant of the American Legion Post and Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Vane Scott III, Honor Guard commander, will order the Honor Guard to Post the Colors.

The Rev. Kenneth G. Hacker will give the invocation and benediction.

The student speaker will be Tristen Durr, son of Steve and Debi Durr. Tristen was graduated from Newcomerstown High School the day before Memorial Day.

The main speaker will be Army Sgt. James Sanders stationed in New Philadelphia as the local Army recruiting person. He is a native of St. Louis, Mo., and was a teacher before joining the Army. He has been to Korea, Germany, Turkey and Afghanistan. His most recent assignment took him to New Philadelphia

The service will conclude with the Honor Guard firing the 21-gun salute.
