DOVER -- On Saturday, July 26, the Tuscarawas County Challenger League will be hosting its annual Grand Finale: A Homerun for All.

The event will take place at the Dover City Park, Field No. 8, starting at 7 p.m. All players, buddies and coaches will be recognized as well as some of the season's sponsors.

The Tuscarawas County Challenger League was founded in 2010 through Bolivar Baseball/Softball Association. It began as a dream of one dad, Dan McCauley, wanting his son to have the same opportunity to participate in America's favorite past-time as others. The Tuscarawas County Challenger League worked together with Canton Challenger league and Bonnie McClellan when it was first started. This year will mark the five year anniversary for the Tuscarawas County Challenger League!

Challenger is a division of Little League baseball that is available to players (ages 6 through high school) with physical and/or cognitive challenges or have an IEP (Individual Education Plan) through their school. When needed, players are paired with a buddy to assist with batting and/or fielding. Family members, friends and other members of the community are encouraged to participate as well. The Tuscarawas County Challenger League is open to any player living in the Tuscarawas County and surrounding areas. The league, which only had nine players when it first began, currently has teams in Newcomerstown (TC Braves), New Philadelphia (TC DiamondBacks and TC Orioles), Dover (TC Reds), and Bolivar (TC Indians).
