DOVER -- Diabetes can be a life-threatening disease if it is not managed properly.
Members of the Dover Noon Lions Club and the Union Hospital Community Health and Wellness Department want to ensure that people with diabetes have the information they need to prevent serious complications.
The annual "Diabetes Screening Day" hosted by the club and hospital will be held Saturday, Nov. 1, from 8 a.m. to noon in the hospital auditorium. Appointments are required and can be made by calling the hospital's Community Relations Department at (330) 602-0778 or online on the "Health Events" section of the hospital web site at www.unionhospital.org. The total cost of the screenings is $5. The screenings will include the Hemoglobin A1C blood test, foot screenings and eye exams from area professionals who are donating their time, as well as educational and nutritional information.
