It's that time of year again -- time for Dress-A-Child! The organization's chairwomen met on June 8 to prepare for this year's program.

Registration dates have been set for county sites as follows:

/ Monday, July 13, Newcomerstown, St. Frances Desales Church from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Federal poverty guidelines will once again be the standard for providing school clothing assistance. Registrants must bring photo ID, proof of income from all sources for the household, and, if guardianship is in place for a child to be considered, proof of guardianship. All children in Tuscarawas County from kindergarten through twelfth grade will be considered. No telephone registrations will be considered.

Once again this year, Dover First Moravian Church's Sole Purpose will provide new shoes for those qualifying through the Dress-A-Child registration process. This year shoes will be available to children in Kindergarten through fifth grade in both the Dover and New Philadelphia school systems. Sole Purpose is effectively doubling their provision of new shoes this year and is very excited about providing this ministry to the children of the community. Sole Purpose consists of youth from the Moravian Church under the supervision of Mrs. Cindy Laughlin.

Shopping will take place at the places and times listed below:

During the 2014 program Dress-A-Child provided 1198 children with vouchers worth $85.00 a piece which were used to purchase new school clothing. Donations from area individuals and businesses are the main source of funding for the program. Donations can be sent to Becky Mastin, 1210 Winkler Dr., Dover, OH 44622.

Dress-A-Child is entirely a volunteer-run organization. Chairwomen volunteer their time and talent to the program begun by Mrs. Beverly Hamilton in 1970. Anyone wishing to volunteer for either registration or shopping days may contact Brenda Jenkins at 330-343-4569. Questions may be directed to either Brenda Jenkins or Becky Mastin at 330-364-1684.
