NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The 4-H Health & Safety Speaking Contest was held June 16 at JIM's Place in New Philadelphia. The local results of the contest are as follows.

Junior Division (under 14 as of Jan. 1):

First place - Emma Sprowl of Port Washington, member of Red Rock Rebels, title of talk "Happily Ever After."

Fifth place - Caitlyn Long of Newcomerstown, member of Thunder Valley Pioneers, title of talk "Snuff Out Smoking."

Senior Division (14 and over as of Jan. 1)

Second place - Taylor Sprowl of Port Washington, member of Red Rock Rebels, title of talk "Because of Amber."

Third place - Clayton Sprowl of Port Washington, member of Red Rock Rebels, title of talk "Every Buy, Every Time."

Fifth Place (tie) - Abby Ackerman of Bolivar, member of Atwood Lakers, title of talk "Living With a Vocal Cord Dysfunction;" Kaden Shepherd of Newcomerstown, member of Buckhorn Tribe, title of talk, Gun Safety in Your Home."

The first and second place winners in the Junior Division, Senior Division, and Skit competed at the Area 3 Health & Safety Speaking Contest in Newark.
