Rotary car show

The Newcomestown Rotary Car Show is set for Saturday, July 18 at Newcomerstown High School, 659 Beaver St., Newcomerstown. The show will take place rain or shine.

Registration is from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., and awards to be presented at 3 p.m. It is a participating judging show. Dash plaques to be given to the first 50 registered vehicles. Awards will be given to the top 30 vehicles, as well as the Newcomerstown Rotary President's Choice Award. There will also be a 50/50 raffle, food and music from the Spikeman. Movie matinee planned

If you are a fan of Harper Lee, you are in luck. Wednesday, July 15 at 2 p.m. Newcomerstown Public Library will be showing the movie based on her first book. Also this week, you can sign up to win a copy of her much anticipated book "Go Set A Watchman" which picks up 20 years later in the lives of her famous characters from "To Kill a Mockingbird." The movie will be shown in the Newcomerstown Library Annex.

Meet and Greet for new coaches set

The Newcomerstown Athletic Department is hosting a Meet and Greet the new coaches at Newcomerstown High School on Thursday, July 16 at 6:30 p.m.

New coaches for the 2015-2016 season are Abbey Mast, volleyball; Walt Cerrato, girls' basketball; and Jamie Lewis, boys' and girls' track.

Any community member, parent or student-athlete may attend.

Chicken dinner set

Newcomerstown Historical Society annual chicken dinner will be July 24 from 4 to 7 p.m.

You can treat yourself to a chicken dinner, including one-half oven-barbecued chicken, baked beans, potato salad, a roll, a drink, and a homemade dessert. Carry-out will be available. Tickets are $10.

In addition, you can sit back and enjoy the music of The Roy McFarland Revue and their old-time country music.

Round and square dance set

A round and square dance is set for July 18 from 8 to 11 p.m. at the Tunnel Hill Community Center in Stone Creek.

The Hand Picked Band will be performing with Gary Woods calling the squares.

There is a $5 admission charge per person.

Bake sale planned

A bake sale is planned at the Newcomerstown Senior Center on Friday, July 24 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will also be soup and sandwiches for sale.

All are welcome.

The senior center is located at 222 S. Bridge St., Newcomerstown.

An outside jam session at the Newcomerstown Senior Center is planned for July 25.

The Country Mix Band will be the host band. Time is from 6 to 9 p.m.

Golf outing set

The Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce's annual golf outing is set for Wednesday, July 29 at Hickory Flats Golf Course, West Lafayette. A shotgun start will be at 1 p.m.

Those participating will receive 18 holes of golf, cart, refreshments and snacks on the course, and a grilled steak dinner at the end with door prizes.

The cost is $200 for a four-person team or $50 an individual.

GI Joe Drop set

The Cy Young Youth League will have a GI Joe Drop on Sept. 7 at Lee Stadium at 8 p.m.

A total of 10 contestants will have the opportunity to win the grand prize of $750, second place prize of $250 or eight smaller prizes.

Drawing for the ten winners will take place Sept. 5 at Baker's IGA.

Tickets are $1 each, and my be purchased from any Cy Young Youth League member or coach.

Farmers' market to return

Newcomerstown Library's Farmers' Market is now open from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. each Friday through the second week of October in the parking lot of the Newcomerstown Public Library.

There is no fee to set up, but each vendor must fill out a form at the library to participate. Interested vendors may call the library for more information at 740-498-8228.

Single moms group

Are you a single mom who needs a break, some answers, hope, wisdom, help? Join the Single Mom's group meetings on Wednesdays from 7 to 8 p.m. at RaChard's Coffee Cove, 209 W. Main St., next to the Feed Barn.

Based on the book,"Hope and Help for the Single Mom," The 21 Principles of a Healthy Single Mom written by Lori Little.

The series is sponsored by the Victory Assembly of God and is free of charge.

Christ's Kitchen, located in the Fellowship Hall of the Christ United Methodist Church in Newcomerstown, serves dinner from 4 to 6:15 p.m. every Monday. The dining room is open from 4 to 6:30 p.m.
