The Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District will begin the 2015-2016 school tear on Monday, Aug. 17 for all staff. The first day for students will be Wednesday, Aug. 19. Students attending classes at Buckeye Career Center will begin on Tuesday, Aug. 18.
School starting and closing times are: East Elementary School (Grades K-l) at 8:30 a.m. and 2:55 p.m.; West Elementary School (Grades 2-5) at 8:15 a.m. and 2:55 p.m.; Newcomerstown Middle School (Grades 6-8) at 8: 15 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.; and Newcomerstown High School (Grades 9-12) at 8:10 a.m. and 3:07 p.m. Students that walk to school should not arrive before 8:00 a.m. Parents are reminded to call the school absence line at 740-498-4086 to report their child absent from school.
Cafeteria prices will be as follows. Breakfast cost is Free for all grade levels.
Lunch cost for Newcomerstown Elementary School (K-5) is free.
Newcomerstown Middle School (6-8) is $2.75 and reduced price is .40 cents.
Newcomerstown High School (9-12) is $2.75 and reduced price is .40 cents.
Extra milk is .75 cents and adult meals cost $3.00.
The Administrative Staff for the 2015-2016 School Year includes:
Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Jeff Staggs; East Elementary School Principal, Mr. Tim Sherman; West Elementary School Principal, Mrs. Erin Peoples; Newcomerstown Middle School Principal, Mr. Jason Peoples; Newcomerstown High School Principal, Mr. Matt Fockler; and Newcomerstown High School Assistant Principal, Mr. Seth Corder. The Technology Coordinator for the district is Mr. Shawn Dakin. The Newcomerstown High School Guidance Counselor is Mrs. Jenny Robinson.
Forms that will be sent home with students on the first day of school will include: Emergency Medical Authorization Forms, School Insurance Forms are available on the website, Payment of Student Fees, Early Dismissal Forms, Email Communication Form and the Student Handbook. Please complete and send them back to the school no later than Aug. 24.
Every Newcomerstown Exempted Village School District School Bus passed inspection-by the Ohio Highway Patrol in June. Students in grades 2-8 that live in the East Elementary School end of town can walk to the East Elementary School in the morning and ride a bus from East Elementary School to the West Elementary School or to Newcomerstown Middle School. Kindergarten and first grade students that live in the west end of town can walk to the West Elementary School in the morning and ride a bus from the West Elementary School to the East Elementary School. School buses will not pick up students within the borders of the village unless a student is physically handicapped. The out-oftown bus routes will remain the same as last year. Some minor bus route changes may occur after the start of the school year to balance routes. Students riding the bus to Buckeye Career Center should be at Newcomerstown High School by 6:50 a.m.
