NEW PHILADELPHIA -- The 24th annual New Philadelphia Kiwanis Community Health Profile is scheduled Saturday, Sept. 26, from 6 to 11 a.m. at Union Hospital at Dover.

The comprehensive blood screening event covers a wide range of health indicators offered as part of a fund-raising project to support the community programs of the Kiwanis.

The blood profile testing includes:

Diabetes (blood sugar)

Cholesterol (HDL, LDL, Triglycerides and Total)

Anemia

Thyroid function

Liver disease

Kidney disease

The cost is $40 for the complete testing package, and for an additional $15 men ages 50 and older can receive a PSA prostate screen.

Appointments are available beginning at 6 a.m. and can be made one of two ways. Online appointments are available anytime by visiting the Union Hospital website at www.unionhospital.org, clicking on the "Health Events" link and completing the registration form for the event. Telephone appointments will be accepted on one day only -- Tuesday, Sept. 15, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. -- by calling 330-364-0950.

Union Hospital's phlebotomy staff will draw the blood samples and testing will be completed in the hospital's laboratory. A printed report will be sent to the address provided by each participant, and this will include all test results and noting any result reporting outside of the normal range for the age and gender of the individual.
