In celebration of fire prevention month, the Newcomerstown Emergency Rescue Squad, Inc. would like to invite all area residents to attend an open house at The Newcomerstown Fire Station, located at 200 S. College St., on Thursday, Oct. 8 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Members will be giving tours of the fire station, providing demonstrations of equipment, checking blood pressures, and giving safety talks to children. There will also be a fire extinguisher inspector on station to inspect fire extinguishers for area residents, and new fire extinguishers will be available for purchase.

Feel free to bring your fire extinguishers to be checked. A fire extinguisher class will be taught at 6 p.m. with hands-on instruction on how to use fire extinguishers. There will also be a "Blessing of the Boat" at 5:30 p.m. for the new rescue boat that was recently placed into service. All of the fire trucks, ambulances, and rescue trucks will be open for display. Light refreshments will be served.
