WEST LAFAYETTE -- West Lafayette Village Council has recently announced the addition of a new council member following the resignation of a former councilman.

During last Monday night's regular council session (Nov. 23), incoming Mayor Steve Bordenkircher was appointed to fill the vacancy left by councilmember Roger Warne, who resigned due to health reasons. Bordenkircher will fill the seat left by Warne through Dec. 31, 2015, which after that date he will begin his duties as the new Mayor of West Lafayette.

After Dec. 31, the vacant seat will then be in pending status until a new council member is appointed.

Following the resignation of Warne, two positions which he had held during his council term were re-assigned. Councilmember Ron Lusk was appointed as the Finance Committee chairman and councilmember Rich Wheeler was appointed as council President Pro Tem.

The Village of West Lafayette has announced that their website up and running now. The website will have updated information concerning the various events for the village, and council information which includes previous approved resolutions, announcements, and changes. The annual Christmas in the Village will take place Dec. 5. The special holiday agenda is as follows: Beginning at 7 a.m. the Lion's Club will have its pancake breakfast at the Methodist Church on Oak Street. A holiday craft show will be held at the First Baptist Church on East Main Street starting at 9 a.m. The annual Santa parade begins at 1 p.m., with line-up at the Ridgewood Middle School starting at noon.

The next regular council session is scheduled for Dec. 14.
