The third annual First Night celebration in downtown Newcomerstown is set for Thursday, Dec. 31.

There are six unique and exciting venues situated within walking distance of each other.

These are places where you, your family and friends can relax and stay warm while being regaled with fine entertainment.

For example (to name only three venues):

The Victory Assembly of God (311 S. College St.) is presenting both a professional magic show and a marine life show - a unique but fun combination.

Joshua Harris and his family will be performing holiday music at the First Baptist Church (135 S. River St.).

Or, you can participate in an activity at a location.

St. Paul Lutheran Church (121 S. College St.) is offering a basketball contest that night.

There will be contests appropriate for all ages and everyone is invited to participate.

Most local restaurants and clubs will stay open that night and the little league will have a food stand on Main Street.

Last but not least, incoming Newcomerstown Mayor Pat Cadle will be sworn-in at the Olde Main Street Museum (213 W. Canal St.) at 11:30 p.m.

Don't forget the grand finale at midnight: Fireworks!
