A Blue Star Banner ceremony, honoring SP4 Timothy Birch, Pfc. Tanner Birch, and their family, was conducted at the American Legion Post in Newcomerstown. SP4 Timothy Birch graduated from Buckeye Career Center, completed Basic Training at Ft. Benning, Ga., Advanced Training as a diesel mechanic at Ft. Leonardwood, and is assigned to the 336th Engineer Company in Weirton, W.Va. Pfc. Tanner Birch attends Newcomerstown High School, completed Basic Training at Ft. Benning, Ga., and is a member of the Ohio National Guard. Their parents are Leannda Meadows of Kimbolton and Tom Birch of Newcomerstown. Marilyn Dotto, a representative from the Blue Star Mothers of Tuscarawas County, was present to hand out the banners. The soldiers and their family stated they were honored for the banners, and they will proudly represent members of all the Armed Services and those that have served. In the picture are SP4 Birch, sister Karrieann Birch, brothers T. Anthony Birch and Marshall Meadows, along with members of the organizations. Members of American Legion Post 431, Veterans of Foreign Wars 3303, Vietnam Veterans of America 532, and Blue Star Mothers of Tuscarawas County honors those serving and their families.
