The Newcomerstown Middle School student council candy bar sale was a huge success!
As part of the fundraiser, the top candy bar sellers were rewarded with a field trip to Anthony-Thomas Chocolate Factory in Columbus on Thursday, Dec. 10. Students toured the factory, learning about the history of Anthony-Thomas and how chocolate was made. After the tour, students were able to shop in the gift shop that was beautifully decorated for the holidays.
The Newcomerstown Middle School Student Council offers the candy bar sale to help students pay for sixth grade camp, the seventh grade field trip, and the eighth grade trip to Washington, D.C. This year, approximately 16 sixth graders will attend camp for free and at least twenty other students raised enough money to pay at least 50 percent of their camp. Over 48 seventh graders paid for their field trip by selling candy bars. So far, four eighth graders have sold enough candy bars (they sold 29 bags!) to attend Washington, D.C. for free. There are several other students working on going for free. About 58 eighth-graders sold candy bars to help pay for their D.C. trip.
Thank you to everyone that supported this NMS fundraiser, which will allow many of our students to attend sixth grade camp, Bizztown (seventh grade field trip) and Washington, D.C., where they will make memories that will last a lifetime.
