COSHOCTON -- The Malone University Chorale and Chamber Choir will present "Beside Still Waters," under the direction of Jon C. Peterson, D.M.A., at the Sugarcreek First United Church of Christ (526 W. Main) at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 5.

On Sunday, March 6 at 3 p.m., they will also be in concert at the Roscoe United Methodist Church, (near historic Roscoe Village) 475 High St., Coshocton. Their program of inspiring choral music will take the audience on a journey of water -- a symbol of rebirth, healing, renewal and peace in the midst of our oftentimes turbulent lives. Music from the Renaissance through the present day can be found in this year's inspiringly eclectic program. Both the Malone University Chorale and the Chamber Choir have traveled extensively throughout the United States, Europe, Asian and Latin America. When at home in Canton, both groups are frequent collaborators with the Canton Symphony Orchestra and the Tuscarawas Philharmonic.

Now in its 58th year, the Chorale is a mixed chorus of 60 men and women dedicated to the performance of a wide variety of European and American choral music. Those students invited to join the Chorale have been offered an opportunity to share their God-given musical talent with audiences all over the world through the blending of their voices. The Chorale's unique and exciting sound is testament to each singer's dedication and skill. The Chorale has traveled locally, domestically, and throughout the world for many years, with international destinations such as Canada, Europe, Asia, and Latin America.

The Malone University Chamber Choir is comprised of 24 singers chosen through competitive auditions from the ranks of the Malone University Chorale. This highly selective choir performs several styles of music, from a cappella classics to contemporary small-group works. The choir made their debut in February of 2009 when they performed Felix Mendelssohn's Lobgesang, Op. 52 with the Canton Symphony Orchestra. The Chamber Choir represents Malone University throughout the school year at area concerts and traveled with the University Chorale in June of 2010 on a tour of central Europe including concerts in Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic. They perform as part of Christmas at Malone, a much-loved tradition on the campus of Malone University, held each year in December. This May, the Chamber Choir will participate in a service-learning trip to Nairobi, Kenya and surrounding areas.
