FRESNO -- As a new feature at the sixth annual Tri-County Wing Contest and Wild Game Dinner, Tim Mullen and Jim West will provide a wild turkey hunting and calling demonstration with turkey calls made by Tim's dad, Bill Mullen.

Between them, the two men have called and judged in events such as the US Open Championship and National Calling Championships. They also worked together to organize and run the US Open Calling Championship at Riverview High School for the years 1991, 1992 and 1993. Between them, they have hunted turkey from Wyoming to New York to Florida to Pennsylvania to Kentucky.

Attendees are encouraged to come enjoy wild game dishes and bring your own to share. Past year's dishes include bear meatloaf, elk lasagna, squirrel pot pit, barbecue raccoon, turtle soup, Spanish mackerel, stingray, big horn sheep and venison. This year's event will feature a hog roast in addition to whole roasted deer.

If you make good chicken wings, make at least 20 and bring them to the event to compete in the annual wing contest. Winner gets a prize.

The favorite feature of the night is always the atomic wing challenge. Junior and adult division compete to eat some of the world's hottest wings. Winner gets trophy this year instead of tee shirt.

Over 50 prizes will be given away at this free event on Sunday, Feb. 21 at 4 p.m. Come early if you want a seat. Wear camo and a big smile. The public is welcome.
