The Newcomerstown Chamber of Commerce has announced that to better accommodate the participants and the public, the Newcomerstown Christmas Parade will be held on Saturday Dec. 10 at 11 a.m. The parade lineup will be at the Newcomerstown High School at 10 a.m. Businesses and individuals who want to participate in the parade should contact Bonnie Johnson at 740-498-6644. Following the parade, Santa Claus will be at the East School to visit with children and hand out treats.
If any group would like to raise money from the sale of baked goods and hot chocolate along the parade route, please contact the chamber for more information (740-498-7244).
The chamber will decorate the tree in the area between the library and Dick's restaurant. Vendors be setting up at the Library Annex. If you would like to set up a table in the annex and be part of the promotions of the day, please call Christy at 740-255-6880. Space is first come first served. Also, let them know any ideas you may have or ways you can contribute to make this a special occasion for the youth of our wonderful village.
Newcomerstown is once again planning a first night celebration complete with fireworks for New Year's Eve. If you have a group who would like to help out in this family-friendly celebration, please contact Mayor Pat Cadle at 740-498-6313.
The chamber is looking for churches, booster clubs, athletic teams, or groups who want to set up stands or volunteer at the different venues.
