A large number of Buckeye Career Center students who participate in career technical student organizations are celebrating state wins and preparing to compete at the national level. The state Business Professionals of America contests were held last week with BCC students from Buckeye, the Berlin Business Academy at the East Holmes Satellite Campus and the Garaway Business program taking top honors.

Buckeye Career Center student results:

Computer Networking: Alex Glazer (Claymont) (top five and national qualifier).

System Admin with Microsoft: Devin Gordon (Garaway) and Jackson Spraggins (Dover) (top ten state finishers).

Networking Design Team: Zack Roberts (Carrollton), Aaron Albaugh (New Philadelphia), Jace Bennington (Newcomerstown), and Tristan Steinbach (Indian Valley) (top 10 finish).

Garaway Business program student results:

Payroll Accounting: Madeline Smith (national qualifier, top ten finisher).

Banking and Finance: Kory Stress.

Payroll Accounting: Quinn Gordon (top ten finisher).

Berlin Business Academy student results:

Administrative Support Concepts -- Melody Kaufman (first place).

Parliamentary Procedure Concepts individual results -- Zach Troyer (first place), Darrin Yoder (third place), Cara Troyer (fourth place) and Jeremy Miller (fifth place).

Parliamentary Procedure Team: Cara Troyer, Zach Troyer, Joann Mast, Kenny Beachy, Jeremy Miller and Darrin Yoder (first place, national qualifier).

Fundamental Word Processing: Josh Garber (first place, national qualifier).

Intermediate Word Processing: Melody Kaufman (top ten).

Start-Up Enterprise Team One: Cara Troyer, Jeremy Miller and Treva Beachy (top twenty finalist and national qualifier).

Start-Up Enterprise Team Two: Joann Mast, Kenny Beachy, and Darrin Yoder (top twenty qualifier and national qualifier).

The Berlin Business Academy program also received the Chapter Activities Award of Excellence from the Ohio Association of BPA and 20 students earned Statesman Level Torch Award with Ambassador Torch Awards to be given at the National Leadership Conference May 10-14 in Orlando Florida, where all of our national qualifiers will compete for the top prize in each category.
