PORT WASHINGTON -- Dr. Jim Brick, DVM, will present a program about the Alaskan Iditarod at 6 p.m. Sunday, June 11 at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in Port Washington.
Dr. Brick is a retired veterinarian who assisted with the Iditarod for many years, providing care to the Siberian and Alaskan Huskies designated to pull the sleds through all kinds of conditions. Dr. Brick and his partner, Dr. Kobe Johnson of Tacoma, WA, established a dropped-dog program in 2004 in which a dog experiencing a medical problem is returned to Anchorage and treated by the doctors after an evaluation by a checkpoint veterinarian.
The event is sponsored by St. Paul's Outreach Committee. Light refreshments will be served.
