WEST LAFAYETTE -- The Ridgewood Local School Board met in regular session on Aug. 19 with all members present.
Treasurer Jay Tingle gave the financial report that was approved by the board along with the minutes of the July 17 financial and board meeting. Superintendent Mike Masloski introduced Missy Grimmett as the new social worker at Ridgewood Elementary School.
School nurse Barb Bond gave a presentation on the new AEDs that will be located in each building, weight room and football stadium. She updated the board on the requirements for training and education of staff and students. Bond is currently in the process of training classified staff and will then begin the certified staff.
Commendations and recognition were given to:
■ Gordon Arney, first grade teacher for being awarded the MVESC "Educator of the Year" award.
■ Peggy Ball, Bobbi Holcomb and Sarah Wright for obtaining a 21st Century Grant for Ridgewood High School in the amount of $850,000 over a 5 year period. It will be used for intervention, enrichment, and after school programs.
■ The entire staff of custodians, maintenance, grounds, bus garage personnel, central office staff and summer help for the work done this summer on building and grounds, which are in excellent shape.
Superintendent Mike Masloski recommended the following actions that were approved:
■ Classified substitutes Jerold Ball and Danny Peoples as bus drivers, and Maggie Mizer as custodian.
■ Volunteer Kris Alan for band and guard in the Music Department.
■ Supplementals for LPDC to Jeff Larr, Matt Colvin, Jane Buehler, Lori Cabot and Linda Ondayko.
■ SLO to Trista Claxon, Todd Stoffer, Troy Dolick, Kim McKibben and Matt Wells.
■ Paraprofessional bus aides Kim Baker, morning route, and Sharon McCormick, afternoon route as needed.
■ Saturday school monitors Trista Claxon, Stoffer, Colvin and Cabot.
■ Josh Lahmers for seventh grade football.
■ Agreement with Jefferson County ESC for the alternative school.
■ Resolution of intent not to provide career-technical education for the seventh and eighth grade students due to the impracticality of the program.
■ $8,000 for the after-school enrichment and intervention programs at Ridgewood Middle School.
■ Agreement with Coshocton County Board of DD to provide physical therapy services for 2017-18 school year.
■ Trade-in of a 2001 International bus to Cardinal Bus Sales.
■ Final reading of the following board policy and procedures for revised policy #2464 (Gifted Education) and #7450 (Property Inventory).
■ Agreement with Capital Windows to replace the windows at Ridgewood Middle School.
■ Statements of pre-qualifications permitting RLSD to forego the requirements of ORC 153.66-153.70.
■ Participate in META and Ohio Mid-Eastern Regional Education Service Agency bus bids for FY2018.
■ MOU with Ohio Association of Public School Employees, as presented.
■ Update on legislative Items was presented concerning GASB 75-Post Employment Benefits other than pension; HB 312-credit card use; and HB 200 and SB 85 for income based vouchers.
The board will next meet in regular session at 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 18 at 301 S. Oak St. in West Lafayette.
