The Tuscarawas Philharmonic is excited to continue their year-round Children's Chorus under the direction of Laura Barkett. The chorus meets weekly September through April, with rehearsals every Monday evening from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m. at the Kent State Tuscarawas Performing Arts Center. Carolyn Wallace will be accompanying.
The first rehearsal for the fall semester is Aug. 28, from 5:45 to 6:45 p.m.
Children between the ages of 7 to 14 are invited to join, with no prior registration required. This rehearsal will include a musical assessment and evaluation for each participant, but students will not need to prepare anything in advance.
There will be no registration fee for the fall semester.
Concerts for the fall semester will include the Warther's Christmas Tree Festival, the One Book, One Community event at Kent State Tuscarawas, and the Tuscarawas Philharmonic Yuletide concert.
The Yuletide Chorus, a Philharmonic tradition, is open to any child in the community, ages 7 to 14. Singers do not need to be a member of the year-round Tuscarawas Philharmonic Children's Chorus to participate in this larger ensemble.
Rehearsals for the Yuletide Chorus will be held on Saturday mornings at 9 a.m. beginning October 14th at the Performing Arts Center. The Yuletide concert will be held Saturday, Dec. 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the KSU Performing Arts Center and will feature Franc D'Ambrosio.
