DOVER — It’s fall, the temperatures are starting to dip a bit and there’s nothing more relaxing – and rejuvenating at the same time – than a nice walk.

Celebrate the fun of the fall season and join Dr. Jack E. Kehl III of UPS Regional Surgical Specialists at Union Hospital’s free monthly "Walk With A Doc" scheduled Wednesday, Oct. 4, at 4:30 p.m. at the Tuscarawas Valley County Farmers Market at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds.

Walkers are encouraged to wear their favorite fall-themed sweaters or sweatshirts, or something orange that "feels like fall," said Mary Marshall, RN, a nurse with the Union Hospital Community Health and Wellness program who oversees Walk With A Doc. "It’s the perfect time of the year to enjoy the outdoors with a walk and being at the Tuscarawas Valley Farmers Market makes it even better."

And the hospital’s Nutrition Services Department will be serving free samples of a broccoli and white bean salad at the conclusion of the walk.

Walkers will meet at the Cloverleaf Café at the Tuscarawas County Fairgrounds, receive free blood-pressure checks, hear a health-related talk from Dr. Kehl and then take in the sights, sounds and smells of the Farmers Market during the walk around the fairgrounds.

Dr. Kehl is a native of Newark in Licking County who graduated summa cum laude from Cedarville University before earning his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. He participated in clinical research at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center and was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honors Society for academic excellence. He also completed an internship and residency at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.

The entire event is free and no pre-registration is necessary. For more details, call (330) 308-3599 or send an e-mail to
