Recently the Thomas R. Little Memorial Fund received two donations from alumni who no longer live the area but who still keep tabs on the community and what is happening here.

The first donation was $1,000 from a couple from the Newcomerstown High School Class of 1961 and the second was a $500 donation from two former recipients of scholarships from the TRLMF who are now actively involved in their careers and wanting to "pay it forward."

"This is not the first time either one of these groups of alumni have given to their hometown and I doubt that it will be the last," said Jill Little, president of the Thomas R. Little Memorial Fund.

Other types of giving have included memorials, where friends and families gave in memory of a loved one. It is also possible to honor the life and work of someone who has meant a lot to the donor while that person is still alive. Donors can even honor an achievement, such as becoming an Eagle Scout or being accepted to medical school.

501(c)3 charities like TRLMF have also been helped by bequests from wills or trusts and by being made the beneficiary of life insurance policies. If that is an option being considered, officials of the TRLMF recommend speaking to an attorney or financial advisor.

The Thomas R. Little Memorial Fund is a tax-exempt 501(c) 3 charitable organization.

For anyone who would like to contribute, checks can be made to the Thomas R. Little Memorial Fund and mailed to either 774 Cross St., Newcomerstown, OH 43832; or 7028 Bill Johns Road, Newcomerstown, OH 43832; or deposited in the TRLMF account at the Dover-Phila. Federal Credit Union.
