Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. God saw that the light was good. Genesis 1:2-4

This is the message we have heard from Him and declare to you: God is light; in him there is no darkness at all 1 John 1:5

It is during our darkest moments of life that we need the light of God to shine upon us the most.

You are my lamp o Lord, the lord turns my darkness into light. 2 Samuel 22:29

Each of us at some point in our lives will experience the darkness of grief, sorrow, anxiety, depression or fear. Jesus is the light that overcomes darkness.

Darkness and light cannot be together. 

For God who said, let light shine out of darkness, made His light shine out of darkness, made His light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God’s glory displayed in the face of Christ 2 Corinthians 4:6

We are surrounded by the darkness of sin. Jesus is the light that guides us if we trust in Him.

Jesus removed our darkness of sin when He took our place on the cross.

In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness has not overcome it. John 1:4-5

When Jesus spoke again to the people, He said I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. John 8:12

Just over 2000 years ago, in Bethlehem, the city of David, Jesus Christ, the light of the world was born. His mother Mary wrapped Him in clothes and placed Him in a manger. Luke 2:7
