If you travel county road 9 from Newcomerstown to Coshocton you probably saw the church sign that read, "Eternity is a long time to be wrong." My first thought was, "Of course it’s a long time. Eternity is a long time." But then I wondered how many things have I done that were eternally wrong? If I sew something wrong I can remove the stitches and try again so that’s not it. If I sing a wrong note I can’t change it this time, but maybe the next time I will get it right. If I color a picture wrong I can’t change it but if I destroy the paper only those who saw it would know I made the mistake. Then I can color another page. If I take a wrong road, I can turn around. So yes, many wrong choices can be made right or I may have opportunity to try again.

The decision that will last for eternity is the one I make for or against the Lord Jesus Christ. If I choose to accept His Word, allowing Him to save my soul, write my name in the Lamb’s Book of Life, and forever guide my way, I will one day go to spend eternity with Him. But here also a wrong choice will last for eternity. To refuse to believe His Word, turning away from the only one who can save my soul is a wrong decision that will be with me forever. To say no to His wonderful plan of salvation, His grace and mercy, will mean an eternity in a lake of fire. To make this decision, then one day stand before a Holy God means I will hear Him say, "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity." (Matthew 7:23) It will be forever too late to make this choice right and it can never be hidden. The choice to spend eternity with Him must be made today, before it is eternally too late.

It’s a blessing to know I have made the decision to spend eternity with my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. An added blessing would be to know that you, too, have chosen the way of the cross, with the one who loves you, for eternity.
