NEWCOMERSTOWN — In action from the J.D. Milburn Relays hosted by Newcomerstown High on Saturday, it was Indian Valley High claiming the girls team title, while River View secured the boys division.

The Lady Braves tallied 106 points for the team crown, followed by Tusky Valley (86), River View (75), Ridgewood (73), Cuyahoga Heights (28), Newcomerstown (23) and Danville (6).

Indian Valley dominated in the field events with first place showings in the shot put (91’9), pole vault (24’) and discus (264’9). In the shot put, the IV team of Gabby Conklin, Emily Love and Ashton Warner emerged with the win, along with Love, Kelci Martin and Warner taking the discus first place showing. Maddy McDaniel, Cassidy Carlisle and Brynn Myers picked up the win in the pole vault for the Lady Braves.

Indian Valley also grabbed the top spot in the high jump (13’6) thanks to the efforts of Kiara Rakestraw, Kitanna Rakestraw and Morgan Allen.

Ridgewood picked up a pair of first place finishes in both the shuttle hurdles (1:11.5) along with the long jump (43’2). Teaming up for RHS in the shuttle hurdles was Grace Gotwalt, Raquel Foster, Paige Slusser, and Alexis Prater, with Prater, Abbey Kellish and Makayla Clifton recording the win in the long jump.

In boys action, the Black Bears racked up a total of 100 points to snare the top spot followed by Indian Valley (76), Cuyahoga Heights (75), Tusky Valley (72), Ridgewood (47), Newcomerstown (26) and Danville (5).

A first place finish for the runner-up Braves was in the long jump (52’1) thanks to the efforts of Caleb Hostetler, Caden Hostetler and Jase Green.

Ridgewood captured the team crown in the discus (354’) with J.J. Durr, Bryce Prater, and Zach Prater, while the Trojans were once again strong in the pole vault (42’6) with the team of Ryan Stevens, Hunter Garretson and Dylan Garretson combining for the win.
