Several months ago I saw the sign at a church that said, "Our Sundays are better than Dairy Queens’s." Could it be true?
Take a dish of Vanilla ice cream with strawberry topping. Add pineapple topping with chocolate syrup then lots of whipped cream, nuts and a cherry. Now that’s a sundae! I’m not sure that’s exactly the way Dairy Queen makes theirs, but it’s the way I like mine. I have had a few of those in my day and they are very satisfying, for a little while.
But what about Sundays? I have experienced even more of those than the ones with ice cream and I will tell you in my estimation they taste better, are more satisfying and certainly last longer. I have known just one Sunday to bring a smile that lasted for days.
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him. I find these words in Psalm 34:8.
Hebrews 10:25 says, Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
I go to church on Sundays because I know it’s what God wants me to do. Then too, I truly enjoy the fellowship with other believers. Most of all I go to church to worship and hear the word of God preached. Romans chapter 10 tells me that through the preaching, and my hearing, of the Word of God, my faith may be renewed, revived or restored. To listen and absorb a message with both the message and messenger sent by God is a blessing sometimes hard to contain. My love for God, and my desire to serve Him, grows.
I truly do like Sundays better. They contain a blessing that will never melt.
