NEWCOMERSTOWN — Visiting Garaway scored in almost every inning to roll to a 19-0, five-inning, mercy rule, Inter-Valley Conference shutout of the host Newcomerstown Lady Trojans Monday.

Kori Guthridge was the winning pitcher for the Lady Pirates (10-5) with three strikeouts and no walks. Cassy Donaldson came on in the final inning with no stats. Erica Maldonado suffered the loss in the circle striking out none and walking seven.

Guthridge helped her own cause at the plate with a home run and single scoring twice and driving in three runs. Donaldson added a triple and single with Zoe Johnson cracking a double and single.

Newcomerstown (4-11, 2-8 IVC) collected just three hits, all singles by Leah Kellish, Kyla Gibson and Deserae Harbold.

TCC 22, Newcomerstown 4

NEW PHILADELPHIA — Host Tuscarawas Central Catholic scored early and often en route to a lopsided 22-4 five-inning victory over Newcomerstown High in Inter-Valley Conference softball action on Tuesday.

A four run first frame, followed by a huge 10 run explosion in the second put the Lady Saints firmly in control.

Erica Maldonado took the pitching loss for NHS, finishing her night’s work with one strikeout and seven walks.

Kayla Gibson and Arianna Stull each slapped a pair of singles to lead the Lady Trojans’ nine-hit attack, with Maddie Fish adding a double with an RBI.

Buckeye Trail 5, Ridgewood 2

WEST LAFAYETTE — Visiting Buckeye Trail extended its win streak to 16 games on Wednesday when it defeated Ridgewood, 5-2 in Inter-Valley Conference softball action.

Hannah Smith pitched a complete game for the Lady Warriors allowing two runs on six hits while fanning eight helping her squad improve to 16-1 overall and 6-1 in the IVC.

Sydney Zinkon took the loss for the Lady Generals allowing five runs on nine hits and three walks with four Ks.

Pacing Trail at the plate was Cassidy Dobbins who smacked a double and two singles for a pair of RBI while Randi Leigh Rippeth singled twice to drive in a pair of runs.

Amber Colvin added a double, a single and three stolen bases which breaks the school-career record for steals with a total of 69 in her career.

Sadie Wilson led the way at the dish for Ridgewood (6-14, 1-7 IVC) with a double, a single and an RBI while Kailee Harris added two singles and Alexis Griffith chipped in with an RBI-single.

Buckeye Trail 19, Newcomerstown 0

NEWCOMERSTOWN - Jenni Carmichael tossed a four-hitter as the visiting Buckeye Trail Warriors recorded a 19-0, five-inning shutout of the Newcomerstown Lady Trojans in Inter-Valley Conference play on Thursday.

Carmichael (5-0) picked up the win in the circle with three strikeouts and no walks. Erica Maldonado took the loss for the Lady Trojans.

Trail (17-1, 7-1 IVC) collected 15 hits led by Brook Colvin with a double and two singles. Carmichael helped her cause with three doubles and a single, good for four RBI; Kaylie Wayble added a double and single; Cassidy Dobbins a pair of base hits.

The four hits for Newcomerstown (4-13, 1-5 IVC) were all singles with Maddie Fish collecting a pair, with Kayla Gibson and Arianna Stull each with one.

Ridgewood 13

Hiland 8

BERLIN — Visiting Ridgewood blew open what had been a close game in the fifth and sixth innings to capture a 13-8 Inter-Valley Conference win over the host Hiland Hawks.

Sydney Zinkon (5-11) picked up the pitching win with six strikeouts and three walks with relief help from Abby Harding in the fifth frame who added two strikeouts and no walks, but did hit one batter. Nicole Kiem absorbed the loss fanning two and walking three with Diana Schrock coming on in the sixth.

Ridgewood (7-14, 2-7 IVC) was led at the plate by five players with multiple hits. Morgan Matis had a double and two singles to rive in four runs, while Kassidy Alexander added two doubles and a single scoring three times and Harding tacked on three singles good for two runs and two RBI. Zinkon helped herself with two singles, two runs and two RBI and catcher Kailee Harris chipped in with a double and single to drive in two runs.

Hiland had six hits, all singles by six different players.

Indian Valley 4, Garaway 3

GNADENHUTTEN — Reagen Wires banged out a two-run single with two outs in the bottom of the sixth to rally Indian Valley past Garaway, 4-3 in an Inter-Valley Conference South Division match-up.

Entering the sixth frame, the Lady Braves trailed by a 3-1 margin but the three-run rally kept the Lady Braves perfect in the IVC at 9-0 and 15-2 overall.

Kayla Tschudy picked up the pitching win for IV, racking up 10 Ks to improve her season mark to 11-1.

Tschudy added two singles with an RBI to lead the Indian Valley offense.

Malvern 7, Newcomerstown 5

MALVERN - Visiting Newcomerstown High dropped a 7-5 decision to Malvern in Inter-Valley Conference softball action on Friday.

The Lady Hornets won despite getting four hits compared to 10 for the Lady Trojans.

Newcomerstown got three singles each from Maddie Fish and Arianna Stull, with Fish driving in a run. Kayla Gibson had a single and two RBI.

Jasmine Goldsworthy got the pitching win for Malvern (4-17) while Carra Arnold took the loss for Newcomerstown (4-14).

Division III Sectional

RIdgewood 2, West Muskingum 1

WEST LAFAYETTE — Host Ridgewood High picked up a 4-3 victory in eight innings over West Muskingum in first round Division III sectional softball action Saturday.

With the game deadlocked a 3-3 after seven innings, the Lady Generals pushed across the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning with pinch-runner Nevaeh Weston crossing the pate on an RBI ground ball from Sadie Wilson.

Sydney Zinkon picked up the pitching win for RHS (8-14) finishing with five Ks and four walks.

Abby Harding paced the Ridgewood offense with three singles, while Wilson, Zinkon and Kailee Harris each chipped in with a pair of basehits for the winners.
