COLUMBUS — It was a big day in pole vault competition at the OHSAA State Track and Field Championships for a pair of talented local athletes over the weekend at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium on the campus of The Ohio State University.
Indian Valley High sophomore Zach Love stood atop the podium in Division II as the state pole vault champion thanks to a jump of 15 feet, 2 inches while Newcomerstown sophomore Hunter Garretson nearly matched Love as he finished as the runner-up in Division III with a vault of 15-0.
Indian Valley junior Ashton Warner earned all-Ohio honors n the D-II girls' shot put with an eight-place finish (38-6.5).
Ridgewood freshman J.J. Durr just missed all-Ohio honors as he finished ninth in the D-III boys' discus (147-11).
Indian Valley junior Ellie McDaniel finished 13th in the D-II girls' pole vault (10-0).
