Team Trivia

Chris Hart and Jeff Orr will be hosting Team Trivia at the all new ARSTNCT building, 304 S. College St. on Tuesday July 10 at 7 p.m. Pizza and soda will be available for purchase. Class of 1956

Class of 1957

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1957 will meet at East Main Kitchen and Coffee Restaurant in Baltic July 3 at noon for the monthly luncheon.


The Guernsey Gathering is turning 10 and will have a final reunion on Sunday, June 24, at the Wheeling Local Elementary School, beginning at 1 p.m. Those attending should bring a dish to share; paper goods and beverages will be provided. G.E. Smith Reunion

The 100th G.E. Smith reunion will start with invocation at 1 p.m., June 24, at Cy Young Park, Shelter 7.

Road closed

Work started Monday, June 11, on a SR 258 bridge repair project east of Newcomerstown at Dunlap Creek Road. SR 258 traffic will be maintained at all times with temporary traffic signals and 12-foot width restriction. Dunlap Creek Road will close at SR 258 for the duration of this work. Detour is SR 258 east to TR 118, then south on TR 118 to CR 4, then west on CR 4 back to Dunlap Creek Rd. (TR 115). Contractor is Shelly & Sands, Inc., and the completion is slated for Sept. 9.

Road work

An interchange improvement project is set to begin next week at the I-77/U.S. 250/SR 39 (West High Ave.) interchange in New Philadelphia. This project also includes upgrades to the New Philadelphia Park N' Ride located between the I-77 southbound ramp and SR 39. Improvements will included additional turn lanes and signal upgrades at the following intersections: SR 39/CR 21 - Additional left turn lane added and signal upgrade; I-77/U.S. 250 off ramp at SR 39 (West High Ave.) - Additional left turn lane added, right curb lane widened, signal upgrade; Park n' Ride - parking lot expanded for additional spaces.  Beginning Thursday, June 21, traffic will be reduced to one 11' lane of traffic between CR 21 and the I-77 northbound/ U.S. 250 westbound off ramp. The contractor for this $1.7 million project is Cornerstone Electric, Inc., and the completion date is October 31, 2018. For more information contact: Lauren Borell at 330-308-7817 or

Farmers Market

The Newcomerstown Farmers Market is open in the Newcomerstown Public Library parking lot from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The main parking lot will be closed to traffic during the Farmers’ Market. 

Featured art

The West Lafayette Library is featuring the unique art of Jessica Rohr, during the month of June. A description of Jessica's art in her own words, "my watercolor artwork is a blend of imaginative realism, fantasy, and surrealism, and is inspired by imagination, emotion, nature, music and anything that catches my minds' eye." Library hours are Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, noon to 5 p.m.; and Saturday, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.


Resurfacing is under way on State Route 751 in Coshocton County. The road is being resurfaced from West Lafayette to the Tuscarawas County line. Motorists can expect two lanes of traffic to be maintained with daily flagged lane closures. The contractor is Shelly Co. The estimated completion date is Oct. 15.

Music benefit

A Bluegrass Gospel / Country Music Jam is planned for the third Sunday of each month from 2-5 p.m. at the Historic Everals Chapel, 60417 Everals Church Road just west of Newcomerstown. The event is hosted by Chestnut Hill Bluegrass band and sponsored by Everals Chapel Preservation Society. Vacation Bible School

St. Paul Lutheran Church, 121 S. College St., Newcomerstown will have Vacation Bible School July 9-13 from 9 a.m. to noon. The theme is "Game On!" directed by Tracy Brown. Game On! VBS takes off in full swing as kids look to God and His ultimate playbook for the best game they will ever play. Join VBS for snacks, games, music, crafts and more!
