WEST LAFAYETTE — There’s a new president for the Ridgewood Board of Education as President Marty Feldner presented his resignation and Vice President Cathy McCrea was administered the oath of office as president when board members met June 15. 

Frank Mathews was nominated for the office of Vice President and approved. The oath of Vice President was administered. The Treasurer was then instructed to post the vacancy of a member of the Board of Education, and given the authority to advertise and collect letters of interest for the vacant board seat. Letters of interest must be received by June 27, 2018 in the Administration Office by noon.

The minutes of the May 14 finance meeting and regular board meeting were approved.

Heather Stoffer, Village Administrator for the Village of West Lafayette, was present to discuss the impending sewer project involving the lift station located on school property . Superintendent Mike Maslowski will be meeting with Distinguished Engineering of New Philadelphia, Ohio to discuss the project.

Commendations were given to:

RMS Musical - ANNIE Jr- Alex Mullen, Jennifer Shanks, and Kirsten Slusser for their hard work and providing great entertainment.

RHS Track – Congratulations to Grace Gottwalt, Alexis Prater, Raquel Foster, and Abby Kellish ( 3rd place in 4x100 relay) Alexis Prater ( 4th place in 100 m hurdles) Grace Gottwalt (8th in 100 m hurdles) and JJ Durr (9th place in discus) for qualifying in the Ohio State Track Meet.

State FFA Degree - obtained by Morgan Matis, Waverly Reidenbach, Emily Bookless, Alexander Incarnato, Carlos Mourer and Brittney Burgan.

State Finalist FFA Proficiency Awards - obtained by Morgan Matis, Emily Bookless, and Madison Whitt.

State Winning FFA Proficiency Awards – to Palmer Erb and Jesse Olinger.

Also - Congratulations to Ridgewood Local Schools field crew for your Field of Excellence Award for the 2017 season.

Finance report for the month of May, Payment of Bills, Then and Now certificates, Taxpert Service, Omni Services, GAAP Conversion Services for FY19, FY20, and FY21, Property and Casualty Insurance with Ohio School Plan Administered by Hylant Administrative Services LLC., Health Insurance renewal agreement with Ohio School Benefits Consortium and Medical Mutual of Ohio effective July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2019 with ALR Insurance Agency acting as Broker on behalf of the District as presented.

Donations approved and donors thanked from Alliance for Healthy Youth to RMS Responsible Social Values Program ($500), Janusian Club to RHS Athletics ($2800), Janusian Club to RHS Music Dept. ($1,700).

The Superintendent’s Report was given and approved on the following items for the 2018-2019 School year: Karen Blackstone – Classified Substitute; Rose Edwards – Certified Long term Sub; Ryan Lowe – RES Intervention Specialist; Voluntary Certified Staff Transfers: Lisa Knisely to Kindergarten (from RES Intervention Specialist); Ryan Gress to RES/RMS Physical Education (from RMS Intervention Specialist); Resignation of Jackie Domer, bus route only and Terri Allen – preschool aide (hours 10:30 – 2:30). Extended service to the following: Jill Bryan, -Voc. Home Ec. 10 days; Jamie Davis-Speech 10 days; Sue Davis – Voc. Ag. 60 days; Leslie Dulgar – RMS Guidance 10 days; Stacy Ionno – RHS Guidance 20 days; John Lindig – Music 10 days; Mike Ondayko – Business/Computer 10 days; Logan Pyers – Voc. Ag. 60 days. Internship agreement with Muskingum University as presented; Interagency agreement with Coshocton County Family and Children Council, College Credit Plus Program with University of Northwestern Ohio as presented; Sale of International 65 passenger school bus to Eastern Ohio Basketball Camp for $2700, Amended contract for Todd Stoffer to read as the period of Aug. 1, 2018 to July 30, 2020 with all other portion of the contract shall remain in force and effect.

In old business, window bid was accepted from Capital Aluminum. Replacement will begin later this year. There was discussion concerning the weight room renovation.

An announcement that free lunches will be available beginning Monday June 18, from 12:30 to 1 p.m. at Burt Park for all children under the age of 18. This will be in conjunction with Kn-Ho-Co and Ridgewood Local Schools.

The next board meeting will be Friday June 29, at 8 a.m. at the Administration Building at 301 S. Oak St., West Lafayette.
