John 1:1 and 2 read, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God.
Revelation 1:8 says, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.
I read these verses of scripture and I know that God is the beginning and the end. According to God’s Word He is the only person, place or thing that had nothing before Him. I have heard Pastor touch on the fact that God was the beginning. I have known the Lord for many years and still find it hard to understand this truth. I remember my granddaughter telling me that even though she knew this was true, it was the one thing she really did not understand. Yet His Word teaches that everything was created by Him. No, I don’t understand all this but I believe that one day I will see and know how it could be.
God loved what He created. He loved me enough to send His only begotten son to die on a cross as the penalty for my sins. Again, the Bible explains all this. When I learned of the man Jesus and what He did for me, I knew He was the Savior I needed. Knowing I could be free of sin by accepting the cleansing that cost Jesus His life, I said, "Yes. That’s what I want." God adopted me, making me a child of His. I am now worthy to call Him, Father. I know that this same God, my Father, will be with me throughout eternity. His Word promises me that He will.
Isaiah 40:8 tells me, The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.
Then in Luke 21:33 I find these words, Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
It’s a blessing to read God’s Word and know that He always has been and always will be.
