Once again Lord I read 1Thessalonians 5:18 which reads, In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. I have so much to be thankful for, Lord. I know that you are always with me, providing strength, courage, wisdom, and comfort. You fill the empty spaces in my life. My needs are met. I can live in peace and joy, no matter my circumstances. Your love surrounds me.
Yet today my heart is heavy. My brothers and sisters in Christ are hurting. Some are burdened with trouble beyond words. The recent storms, hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes, and floods have seemingly destroyed their lives. I hear the news and see the pictures of so much devastation it’s almost unbelievable. Many lives have been lost. Others have lost their homes, clothes, belongings, and are left with nothing. Is there a way for them to rebuild their lives? I believe that if they can find a reason to be thankful today, then yes, they can rebuild. Your Word teaches that you are with us in the midst of every storm. With your presence comes your help.
Be with these ones, Lord. Hear their cries. Fill the needs. Send the help that is so desperately needed. Show me if there is a way I can help; use me if you can. Use the problems today to remind your people of all that your Word says. For the ones who have never met you I pray you will reveal yourself to them. May this be the time they would call on you for salvation. Remind each of us that you are a Holy God and that your love knows no bounds, yet your demands must be met.
Walking through a storm with you leading the way is a blessing. Thank You for your presence.
