This year's homecoming parade will be Thursday, Sept. 6, beginning at 3:45 p.m. at Newcomerstown High School. The parade will follow the following route: Oak to River to Church to College to Main to Goodrich back to the high school. Any community business/club/organization/political candidate, etc that would like to be in the parade is asked to call Sally Lenhoff at the high school at 740-498-5111, ext 11124. The crowning of this year's homecoming queen will take place before the football game that evening. The homecoming dance will be in the high school commons on Saturday, Sept. 8, from 7-10 p.m.

Band Show

Save the date and plan to attend the Newcomerstown Band Show at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15 at Lee Stadium. The Newcomerstown Marching Band will host other area bands, in addition to featuring alumni band members in a number. Newcomerstown Music Boosters will be having concessions, band-themed spirit sales, 50/50, a hog raffle, and more. All proceeds from this event directly benefit the band in its upcoming trip to perform at a College Football Bowl Game in Florida this December. The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1957 will meet at Uncle Primo's on Sept. 4 at 12 p.m. for lunch.

Class of 1956

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1956 will meet Thursday, Sept 13, at Theo's Restaurant in Cambridge at noon.

Class of 1955

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1955 will have its annual class reunion on Thursday, Sept. 6, at the Old Main Street Museum in Newcomerstown, 221 W. Canal St. Registration and social hour begins at 3 p.m. A catered two-meat meal is $12 per person. 

Blood drive

There will be a blood drive at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Newcomerstown on Wednsday, Sept. 5, from 1-6 p.m.

Class of 1958

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1958 will hold a 60th year class reunion Saturday, Sept. 8, in the Fellowship Hall of St. Paul Lutheran Church, 121 S. College St., Newcomerstown. Gathering for social time will be at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. Cost is $15 per person, paid the evening of the reunion.

Class of 1960

The Newcomerstown High School Class of 1960 will meet Wednesday, Sept. 12 at East Main Kitchen & Coffee Restaurant, 108 E. Main St. in Baltic.

Class of 1961

Mod Rod Pulling

The Bakersville Volunteer Fire Department will host the Ohio Mod Rod Pulling Association at the Bud Hawk Arena (State Route 751 and County Road 2) in Bakersville on Saturday, Sept. 8. The pull will include ATV’s, UTV’s and stock garden tractors up to garden tractors with V-8 engines and diesels. Weigh-in starts at 5 p.m. and the pull starts at 6 p.m. A food stand will be provided. Art on display

Joan Staufer, a local professional artist, will be displaying a variety of older and recent landscape and abstract art in mixed media on wood and canvas at the West Lafayette Library during the month of September. The Library is open Monday through Wednesday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Music benefit

A Bluegrass Gospel / Country Music Jam is planned for the third Sunday of each month from 2-5 p.m. at the Historic Everals Chapel, 60417 Everals Church Road just west of Newcomerstown. The event is hosted by Chestnut Hill bluegrass band and sponsored by Everals Chapel Preservation Society. Slime Night

Wednesdays at Chili Crossroads Bible Church, 29445 County Road 10, Fresno, resume Wednesday, Sept. 5, with Slime Night. Every kid takes home a package of slime.
