I have loved the Lord for 60 plus years, since the day He saved my soul, and I know He loves me. Then one day God showed me through His Spirit what loving Him really is. It’s not about my love for Him; it’s about how much He loves me. 1 John 4:19 says We love him, because he first loved us. Without His love I couldn’t love at all because I wouldn’t know what love is.

So often I hear people say they love the Lord and I wonder, but do you understand how much He loves you? Jesus wants my love, in fact He commands it. In Matthew 22:37 I find these words, Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

God’s Word teaches me what love is and even who I am to love. I am to love my enemies, those who persecute me. I believe God teaches that I am to love those who are different, the ones the world may have turned their back on, the outcasts of society, and those labeled unlovable. I know too, that I am to love my brothers and sisters in Christ.

Most of all I am to love God. Without the love that we share I could not love others. Without Him I would have no love to share with the world.

God’s love is a blessing, both His love for me and my love for Him.
