ARTSNCT, Arts Center of Newcomerstown, will observe National Piano Day with its first annual Elizabeth Norman Celebration of the Piano at 6 p.m. on Friday, March 29.
The event, named in honor of the onetime Newcomerstown school teacher, will feature a number of local musicians of all ages and skill levels in one continuous celebration.
Since its opening last June, ARTSNCT continues to evolve, bringing more and more individuals and organizations together in more ways than one. The center has attracted over 1,182 visitors locally and from around the state.
It has not only become a local arts center but has also transitioned into a welcoming community center by hosting meetings of various organizations and offering its space for private parties and celebrations.
The center has presented a number of programs showcasing a wide spectrum of art and music and is about expand its offerings by launching a series of its own stage productions.
ARTSNCT will also commence free art classes for local youth in grades K-12 at the end of the current school year. The classes will be sponsored by local businesses and organizations and are scheduled weekly beginning Saturday, June 1, at 10 a.m.
The center will also open its doors for free Sunday matinee movies and popcorn beginning Sunday, June 2, at 1 p.m.
Michael Wise, founder of ARTSNCT, said the facility is "proving to be a valuable asset, not only for Newcomerstown, but for Tuscarawas County and the state."
The National Piano Day concert is scheduled for Friday, March 29, at 6 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.
"You will not want to miss it or any of the other quality programs and events scheduled at the center," Wise said.
