Easter Egg Hunt

This year the Newcomerstown Public Library is having four age-separated Easter Egg Hunts on Friday, April 19. At 10:30 a.m., 1-2 year-olds have their chance to search for eggs. Pre-kindergarteners begin their hunt at 11 a.m. K-2nd grades are at 11:30 a.m. and the 3rd - 5th graders round it out at 12:30 p.m.

Meeting change

The regular meeting of the Salem Township Trustees has been changed from Thursday, April 18, to Wednesday, April 17, at 8 p.m. at the Salem Township Hall.

Road work

In Tuscarawas County, preparation work was set to begin Friday, April 12, on I-77 for a project to resurface nearly 8.5 miles of interstate. I-77 will be resurfaced from the I-77/ U.S. 250 interchange in New Philadelphia to Stonecreek. One lane of traffic maintained at all times with a completion date scheduled for October 31, 2019.

In Coshocton County, pavement repairs was to begin on April 15 on SR 541 and SR 206 with two-lane resurfacing to following. The following areas will be resurfaced with this project: SR 541 from SR 60 to SR 16; SR 541 from Hook Road to SR 93; SR 206 from SR 541 to US 36. One lane of traffic will be maintained with flaggers. Estimated completion is October 15, 2019, weather permitting.

Scrap Iron Drive

Boy Scout Troop 424 of Newcomerstown will be conducting a scrap iron drive in conjunction with Newcomerstown’s spring clean-up. Funds raised will be used for a troop trip to Gettysburg this summer. Scrap iron may be dropped off at the Street Department’s yard on Friday, May 3, between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. and Saturday, May 4, between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Enter the yard through the recycle center on State Street and exit to College Street. Sunrise Service

St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church, Newcomerstown, will host a Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. at the church followed by the traditional Easter Breakfast at 8 a.m. There will be an Easter Egg hunt for the kids at 9:30 a.m., and the Easter Worship Service will be at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome.


Chili Crossroads Bible Church 29445 County Road 10, Fresno, will host an Easter EGGsplosion Sunday, April 21, at 10:30 a.m. The free event includes face painting, an egg catapult with real eggs, an encouraging message and inspiring music. Awards Night

The Newcomerstown High School Spring Awards Night will be Thursday, May 23, at 6:30 p.m. in the High School gym.

Bluegrass Jam

A "Bluegrass, Gospel and Country Music Jam" will be hosted each third Sunday of the month from 2-4 p.m. at the Historic Everals Chapel, 60417 Everals Church Road, just west of Newcomerstown. The jams will run from May through September in 2019. The next jam session is scheduled for May 19. The event is sponsored by Everals Chapel Preservation Society. School reunion

The annual Plainfield School Reunion will be Sunday, June 2, at the Linton Community Center (formerly Plainfield Elementary School). This is open to anyone who graduated from or attended Plainfield School. Honored will be the Class of 1959 whose members were the last graduating class at Plainfield. Doors will open at noon with dinner catered by Schumaker Farms beginning at 1 p.m. The program will be "Remember When with Music Memories." Pizza Blast

There will be an all-you-can-eat Pizza Blast at Chili Crossroads Bible Church, 29445 County Road 10 Fresno, Friday, May 10, from 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, May 11, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The church just got a new pizza oven that can make over four times the pizza than before.
