Greater Alliance Carnation Festival

Description: For nearly six decades, the festival has been held offering the Alliance area community the opportunity to enjoy events such as parades, fire truck pump-in, queen pageant, hot air balloon lift-off, pet show, car show, rib fest and the always popular Days in the Park offering food, games and music at Silver Park. A number of other opportunities to attend events and take tours of Alliance treasures, such as the Glamorgan Castle, are sprinkled throughout the 10-day festival.

Summer Concert Series
Location: Caboose parking lot
Dates: June 28, July 12, July 19, July 26, Aug. 30
Description: Alliance Mayor Alan Andreani and the Alliance Area Chamber of Commerce announced the 2019 Summer Concert Series schedule that is held on Fridays at the Caboose stage in the 200 block of East Main Street in downtown Alliance. The series will kick off June 28 with The John Hampu Band, followed by Kool Nights on July 12, Jimmy & the Soul Blazers on July 19, Around the Block Band on July 26 and The Rex Taneri Band on Aug. 30. The free concerts typically draw 300 to 400 people who set up chairs and enjoy the music and atmosphere.

Sebring Fireman’s Festival
Location: Sebring fire station grounds, 235 E. Ohio Ave.
Dates: May 29-June 1
Description: Sebring Fireman’s Festival is held Wednesday through Saturday on the grounds at Sebring’s main fire station. Fair-type food along with homemade french fries, sandwiches and desserts are available from the kitchen at the rear of the fire station. Food and Bingo are offered each night beginning at 5 p.m. Amusements and rides run from 6 to 10 p.m. A queen is crowned Wednesday, chosen by a penny-per-vote system, and rides in the parade that steps off at 6:30 p.m. Friday from the high school on Indiana Avenue. A ride matinee is held the final day from 1 to 5 p.m. Advanced ride tickets are available at Leonard Hardware Co., Sebring Tire and Jenkins Motor Parts.

Beech Creek Gardens

Description: Located on a 175-acre site in Washington Township, the 501(c)3 nonprofit offers hiking trails, gardens, the Butterfly House, the Amazing Garden Plant Exploratorium, Nature Playground and plenty of educational opportunities and programs throughout the year. Admission varies based on season and age. A yearly membership is also available which offers free admission and access to hiking trails from dawn to dusk. The organization continues to expand and add new offerings for area residents and has plans to add a pond.

Funtimes Fun Park

Description: Open five days a week during peak season and weekends otherwise, this park offers miniature golf, go karts, batting cages, the Tilt-A-Whirl ride, a Dance Dome, bumper boats and the Splash inflatable water park (open May 25 through Sept. 2). New in 2019 are three kiddie rides: Lickety Split, Star Shooters and Salt Water Tugs. There are several different pass options at varying costs: one day fun pass, water park only splash pass or a season pass. Batting cages are not included in any pass. Tickets for several attractions also are available on an individual basis.

Troll Hole

Description: Journey through two floors of the legends, myths and magic surrounding the history of trolls. This unique museum owns the Guinness Book of World Records for the largest troll doll collection. It includes more than 20,000 troll items, floor to ceiling troll dolls, Troll Bridge and Troll Sculpture Garden with a 10-foot “Troll Mountain,” Dreamworks Troll themed room, a gift shop and Grumpy Troll Cafe. Prices vary from $10 general admission to free for active military members and families.
