NEW PHILADELPHIA — The most recent Buckeye Career Center student-built "Buckeye House sold at public auction May 14, 2019.

Gerald and Dawn Chenevey bid $278,000 on the house and the Buckeye Career Center Board of Education accepted the offer at its meeting earlier this month.

Construction of this house began in Aug. 2017. Buckeye students in Construction Technology, Energy Operations, Masonry, Landscaping, HVAC-R, and Electrical Systems Technology had a role in building the house. Buckeye officials say the construction project provides real-world training for students hoping to enter the construction field. "The Buckeye House gives on-the-job experience for our students through the entire building process," said Assistant Principal Trent Edie. "It’s really a great learning sample for our students."

Construction of the next Buckeye House will begin during the 2019-20 school year.
