The Canal Town Family Fun Day & Old-Fashioned Ice Cream Social will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Roscoe Village.
Patrons will experience a glimpse of summer fun as a child in the canal era with old-time games and activities such as Hoop & Stick, Jacks, Marbles, TiddlyWinks and more. Roscoe Village will offer $5 off new family memberships and all current members and volunteers will receive discounts throughout the day.
The day is topped off with a celebration of National Ice Cream Month with a fun old-fashioned ice cream social at Mckenna's Market at Medbery in the Village. Enjoy Velvet Ice Cream cones, milkshakes, soda floats, and a full sundae bar. There will also be face painting, a photo booth, drawing contests and more.
More family fun throughout the Village that day includes special offerings and sales in several businesses along the street including the 'Let’s cut a rug' sale featuring 50 % off all rugs at Cottage Gate; and free balloons for kids and a free gift with purchases of $30 or more at G.A. Fisher Jewelers. The Warehouse Restaurant will offer wine slushies that day; and the Coshocton Supply Co. will have hula hoops on the deck, free flags for kids, and special discounts in the store.
The Johnson-Humrickhouse Museum will offer free admission all day, a craft for the kids, and a one-of-a-kind summer display featuring historical ice cream artifacts. Dogs will enjoy dog-friendly ice cream treats at Good Boy Bakery; and find other specials and sales at the Roscoe General Store, Abigail Birch in Historic Roscoe Village, Roscoe Sweets and Treats and more!
