The family of Elizabeth "Betty McMullen" of Newcomerstown can add a few more memories of their 95-year-old mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

The 93-year member of Calvary United Methodist Church was recognized for her faithfulness at an event at the church on Sunday, June 26, with nearly the entire family (minus a few great-grandchildren) on hand.

Lori McMullen Bassett, one of the grandchildren, said the church family "did a wonderful job" of honoring Betty and that Betty’s family had a wonderful time as well.

She said her brothers added some memories about their grandmother.

"The memories that my brothers had to share were of her spending time with us and them spending the night with her and getting to go to church with her. Grandma would be in such a hurry to get out the door for church on time that she would walk out without her shoes on and we would have to remind her to out her shoes on. They also recalled helping tend their big garden and then getting to go for ice cream at Mathew's Dairy."
