Good Neighbor Project pool party
The Feller Team of Kaufman Realty is organizing a pool party to benefit The Good Neighbor Project from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. July 31, 2019, at the Dover Pool, 3000 Tremont St., Dove. Everyone is welcome to attend for free or by freewill donation as an open community event for Tuscarawas County residents and those who are following the work of The Good Neighbor Project.
Ross Mountain BBQ is providing pulled pork, baked beans, and coleslaw for a freewill donation, and Jim Leblanc will be DJ-ing the party. There will also be a special appearance by Derek Grewell and the Iron Man Race Car! This event is sponsored by State Farm Insurance, Lisa Hoy, Kaufman Realty, and Tango & Gatti.
Ridgewood kindergarten registration
Registration for children who will be entering kindergarten in the Ridgewood Local School District and have not been previously screened will be held Aug. 8 at Ridgewood Elementary School. Registration will be scheduled by appointments. Call 740-545-6354 between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. to schedule an appointment.
The following guidelines must be met for registration: Child must be 5 years of age by Aug. 1, 2019, provide the child's birth certificate, provide the child's immunization records, provide court documents showing custody when child does not reside with both/natural parents, provide proof of residency. The child must participate in developmental screening assessment, which will be performed on registration day.
Board of Revision meeting
The Tuscarawas County Board of Revision (BOR) will be meet at 11 a.m. Aug. 5, in the auditor’s conference room, 125 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia.
The purpose of this meeting is to render a decision involving a complaint. We will also consider remission of penalty applications for property taxes which will include approval or denial (if applicable). The Board of Revision will have completed its work of equalization for tax year 2018. Written comments are welcome from those who will not be able to attend.
Mini Lock-In for teens
DOVER — On Aug. 9, the Dover Library invites local teens entering grades six through 12 for a night of games, crafts and more. The event starts at 6 p.m. and ends at 11 p.m. Registration for this after-hours event is limited to 24 teens and requires a completed permission slip. Interested patrons can call the library at 330-343-6123 or stop in at the front desk for more information, including registration forms and an agenda.
Activities at the lock-in include group icebreaker games, pizza, a gaming hour with board and video games, a crafting hour, and more.

Country music in Kimbolton
An afternoon of country music will be presented Sunday at The Kimbolton Community Center. Music will begin at noon and continue through 3 p.m. with the bands to be determined.
The kitchen will open at noon to serve baked steak and chicken dinners as well as an assortment of sandwiches and desserts. Carry-out will be available. There will be cake walks and a 50-50 drawing.
This event, sponsored by The Kimbolton Homecoming Committee and is open to the public with no admission charge.
Bingo at Dover library
On Aug. 3, at 2 p.m., the Dover Public Library invites students of all ages and their parents to a game of Back to School Bingo. Participants will play to win various school supplies. Registration is requested. Interested patrons can call the library at 330-343-6123 or stop in at the Dover Public Library, located at 535 N. Walnut St., across from Dover High School.
"Back to School Bingo is meant to get kids excited for the new school year with a fun game," says Teen/Outreach Services Manager Liz Strauss. "From markers to composition books and beyond, our prizes are taken directly from school lists to help provide area students with everything they need to succeed in the new term."
This special event is sponsored by a 21st Century Afterschool Learning Grant with Dover High School. This grant provides funds in support of learning activities for the entire family outside of classroom walls. This grant has also funded the Dover Public Library’s Mobile STEAM lab, ukulele classes, and many more fun and educational events for tweens, teens, and families.
