Buckeye Career Center is again hosting a free cross country race for young runners in Tuscarawas County and beyond. The Buckeye Biddy Race is Thursday, Sept. 12, at Buckeye Career Center in New Philadelphia. Day of event registration begins at 4:15 p.m., with the DJ, and inflatables beginning at 5 p.m. The pre-k through third-grade girls race starts at 5:30 p.m.; pre-k through third-grade boys race begins at 5:50 p.m.; the fourth- through sixth-grade girls race starts at 6:10 p.m.; and the fourth- through sixth-grade boys race will wrap up the races at 6:30 p.m. In addition to the free race and inflatables, each participant will receive a hot dog and drink, along with a medal. Top 10 finishers receive special medals and school district team winners receive trophies. Race Penguin is the official timing company for the event.

The cross country course is designed around the Buckeye Career Center campus and created by Energy Operations students. The path guides participants through grass, then around student- maintained ponds, before entering a wooded but cleared area, and back onto pavement. A concession stand will be available and health-related demonstrations will be featured inside the cafeteria.
