NEWCOMERTOWN — Host Newcomerstown High opened up the new volleyball season by sweeping past East Canton High in Inter-Valley Conference action on Tuesday evening.

Picking up the home court wins by scores of 25-10, 25-17 and 25-13 the Lady Trojans move to 1-0 to open the new season.

Leah Kellish lead NHS in serving points 15 points (3 aces), four kills, while Brianna Robinson added nine points (4 aces) with 11 kills, 13 digs and Taylor Lafferty finished with 13 points and handed out a team-high 26 assists.


ZOAR — Visiting Indian Valley dropped below the .500 mark Tuesday with a four-set loss to Tusky Valley in prep volleyball action.

Tusky Valley collected the win in four sets by scores of 25-11, 24-26, 25-19, 25-21 over the Lady Braves who slipped to 1-2 on the young season.

Gaby Miles led Indian Valley with 16 assists, six points, 13 digs, with Lincoln Raymond adding five points (1 ace), 18 digs. Cari Anderson finished with 11 assists, six points (1 ace), 14 digs, three kills and Brenlyn Rostad contributed four points, 15 digs, 7 kills for the Lady Braves.


MAGNOLIA — Indian Valley regrouped to post an Inter-Valley Conference volleyball win over host Sandy Valley on Thursday by scores of 15-25, 25-17, 25-16 and 25-11.

With the IVC road win, the Lady Braves reach the .500 mark at 2-2 on the season.

Gaby Miles paced the Lady Braves with 23 assists, seven points, 15 digs with Cari Anderson adding 18 assists, seven points, six digs and Torie Stocker collecting 15 kills, five digs, three points (2 aces). Lincoln Raymond tallied 24 digs, 17 points, (3 aces) and Brenlyn Rostad contributed 11 kills, 17 digs, and five points.


NEWCOMERSTOWN — Host Newcomerstown High outlasted Zanesville Bishop Rosecrans in a five-set marathon volleyball match to improve to a perfect 2-0 on the young season on Thursday afternoon.

NHS took the win by scores of 23-25, 25-17, 14-25, 25-14, and 15-12 in the deciding set.

Brianna Robinson led the Lady Trojans with 17 points (9 aces), eight kills, while Taylor Lafferty added 11 points (3 aces) with 26 assists. Madison Chiseler finished with 13 kills two blocks, 15 digs and Maddie Fish collected 29 digs.
