COSHOCTON County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a traffic accident that claimed the life of a 49-year-old Coshocton man Friday night.

His name was not released pending notification of family members.

Dispatchers received a 911 call at 7:46 p.m. about a vehicle accident near 45216 County Road 55 and that there was a woman on the side of the road yelling.

Upon arrival, deputies checked the driver and determined that he was deceased.

After talking with the passenger, a 47-year-old Coshocton woman, it was determined that the driver was westbound on County Road 55 when he lost control of his truck and went off the left side of the road, striking trees and an embankment. The passenger was evaluated by EMS and released without injury. Her name also was withheld pending the notification of family.

Neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the accident. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident, deputies stated in a press release.

Assisting deputies at the scene were Coshocton County EMS, Jackson Township Fire Department, Coshocton County React and Prince’s Wrecker Service.
