Just in time to get Santa and Mrs. Claus back to the North Pole for Christmas, The Polar Express has wrapped up its 2019 season with trips from Dennison to a temporary North Pole in Newcomerstown.
The Dennison Railroad Depot Museum runs The Polar Express trips with the support of the Genesee and Wyoming Railroad. This train ride offers families a magical Christmas experience aboard a train headed for the North Pole, leaving from the Dennison Depot and arriving in Newcomerstown.
Aboard the train passengers had the book "The Polar Express" by Chris Van Allsburg read to them. The train ride also includes hot cocoa, cookies, Christmas carols, games and visits with special characters.
On the way back from the "North Pole," Santa Claus visited with each child and gave them a silver sleigh bell. Local school children and adults volunteer as elves to be special helpers for The Polar Express.
